Brian Dettmer: Book Autopsies

briandettmer13Brian Dettmer: Book Autopsies

I doff mon panache de corbeau, give my best  Cyrano style flourish, and a deep bow to Kate Ingold for drawing my attention to Dettmer’s work.  Turns several of my cranks all at once, just the way I like them turned. Mrs. Dr. Omed was ensorcelled as well. She looked at the images of the art, said “I want one,” and looked at me and said, “You make me one.” After a pause, she said “It’s like the way I experience a book when I read it.”

Kate has her own work up as part of the Focus 4 show at the Illinois State Museum Chicago Gallerya taste of dark waters:

  1. His work appears at Packer Schopf Gallery in Chicago, in a show extended from May through July 2nd.

Curse — thank you for the heads-up on this impoverishment opportunity.

  2. I actually saw Brian’s work at Packer Schopf. It’s amazing in person! And, oh yes, definite impoverishment opp. The pieces were in the thousands. Some in the many thousands.

Thanks for the mention of the show, Doc. I’m quite excited about it!

    Hugs to you —

  3. Uncle Grandpa

He appears to be an ardent disciple of our beloved Dr. Omed.
